We recruited 6 participants to perform some user tasks to test how the app worked. Then based on the feedback, We discussed about UX problems and possible improvements.
UX Problems & Solutions
6-step Sign-up Process for new users is too complicated
We separated the identity verification process from original sign-up process, and made the user access the main content of our app as soon as possible after login/sign-up. As a result, we put verification entrance on the profile page and as a reminder when the user join an event for the first time.
Allergen setting is not intuitive enough because all allergens are described in text
We brought the payment setting entrance to the front so that the user can easily edit payment methods. In addition, we cleared the profile page by putting less used features (e.g. privacy settings) on sub-pages.
Payment setting is not obvious on the profile page
Instead of text, We used thumbnails of food that might be allergen as options the user can choose from when setting his/ her allergen details.
Based on the UX problems we found, I redesigned the lo-fi Balsamiq prototype.
